Course Description

Advance Academic English: This course designed for high school English students who have particular difficulties with grammar, spelling, writing, and literal comprehension, which usually reflect past insufficient phonological instruction. During this course, students master phonetics and pronunciation and begin working on accent reduction as well as sophisticated comprehension strategies. This course follows a balanced literacy program that emphasizes the development of both critical reading and writing. The course’s primary emphasis is on building the foundations of phonemic awareness, vocabulary development, comprehension, text reading, word recognition, and summarization of texts. This course offers the flexibility of placement in more advanced classes based on the individual achievement of the student.

The main objective of Advanced Academic English is to assist students in improving their English language skills, gaining confidence, and achieving proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Fostering confidence and self-esteem is essential for students. Teachers should be patient and supportive, offering positive feedback and assisting non-native English speakers who require extra academic support. Help students develop confidence and self-esteem as they learn to communicate effectively in English.
